Developed by Unwave together with Sky Composite Engineering, Steppe Wind is designed to strike stationary targets, armoured vehicles, and enemy positions.
The system has a tactical range of up to 70 km and a maximum route length of more than 90 km, with a flight time of up to 65 minutes. The UAV carries a 5 kg payload and uses optical guidance for final target acquisition during the terminal phase of the mission.
Steppe Wind does not require dedicated launch infrastructure. The UAV is launched from a simple launch platform without a catapult, while the system can be deployed in up to 20 minutes. It supports automatic, semi-automatic, and manual control modes.
Unwave first publicly presented Steppe Wind on 14 July during an event marking the company’s third anniversary. The Middle Strike system was introduced as one of the company’s new products, expanding Unwave’s portfolio beyond counter-UAS solutions to include strike capabilities.
The codification marks the next stage in the development of Steppe Wind and enables the system to scale and see wider deployment across the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
