Unwave has completed the first government order for scaling the Octopus interceptor drone project for the needs of Ukraine’s Defense Forces under cooperation with the Defense Procurement Agency.
The company received a license to scale production of the interceptor drones in late December 2025. Unwave fulfilled its first contract with a military unit by March 30, 2026. On June 10, the company completed the first government order under the program.
“Only a few months passed between receiving the scaling license and fulfilling the first government contract. Such a rapid timeline would not have been possible without the professional support, continuous coordination, and productive cooperation with the project’s development team within the Defense Forces system. Our next priority is to rapidly expand production capacity and provide Ukraine’s Defense Forces with effective tools to protect the country’s skies,” said Yurii Shelmuk, Founder and Co-owner of Unwave.
Octopus is an interceptor drone designed to counter Shahed-type loitering munitions and other aerial threats. With a speed exceeding 300 km/h, an operational altitude of up to 5,000 meters, and machine vision technologies, the system can automatically acquire and track targets during the final stage of interception.
The system is also highly resistant to electronic warfare interference. Its autonomous guidance mode minimizes dependence on external control links, enabling effective operation even in contested electromagnetic environments and under active EW countermeasures.
